Beach at the head of the Bay of Algeciras, between Los Barrios and La Línea de la Concepción. Flatwater spot with easterly wind channelled through the Strait. Industrial surroundings but technically interesting conditions for kiters seeking guaranteed flat water.

Wind conditions
Works exclusively with easterly (E-NE). On strong levante days, one of the best options if you are around Tarifa is to drive over to Palmones beach in Algeciras. On that side of the Strait, the easterly becomes more constant and loses intensity, and being onshore it allows safe and relaxed riding. The bay shields from Atlantic swell: flat water in all easterly conditions.

Best season
Spring (March–June) and autumn, when the easterly is most frequent and intense. In summer the westerly dominates and the spot loses appeal. In winter the levante can blow for several days in a row with considerable force.

Recommended level
Intermediate. Wind can be very strong — small kite and experience in demanding conditions required. The flat water is a plus, but wind strength rules out beginners.

Local regulations
The bay has heavy port traffic — never drift towards the ferry navigation channel (Algeciras–Ceuta/Morocco). Stay close to the beach at all times. Respect the anchorage areas of local boats.

How to get there
From Algeciras, take the A-381 towards Los Barrios. Turn off to Palmones at the Los Barrios roundabout. Follow to the beach — free parking right beside the shore, with direct tarmac access.

And enjoy a front-row view of the Rock of Gibraltar!
