Beside the spot

Beach between Cádiz city and San Fernando, on the isthmus connecting the city to the mainland. A long, straight beach facing southwest, with direct access from the city. Less crowded than other spots in the bay.

Wind conditions
Works with westerly, which generates Atlantic swell with moderate chop — wave conditions for advanced kiters.

Best season
Year-round, with spring and autumn offering the best combination of wind and temperature. In summer the westerly is thermal and consistent.

Recommended level
Intermediate to advanced. Atlantic exposure creates more demanding conditions than inside the bay. Strong westerly swell can make entries and exits difficult — solid beach launch and landing skills are essential.

Local regulations
Part of the beach borders military facilities — respect the marked boundaries and do not enter fenced areas. Kite zone on the southern stretch, away from the busiest swimming area.

How to get there
From Cádiz city, take the CA-33 towards San Fernando. Access to Cortadura beach is signposted just after leaving the city, via the service road. Free parking beside the beach with direct access to the sand. Coming from San Fernando, you need to enter Cádiz and turn back.
