~ Los Lances - Norte ~
Northern end of the long Los Lances beach, a few metres from Tarifa town centre. One of the most popular spots in the Strait thanks to its easy access, wide beach and consistent wind. Ideal for long afternoon sessions with thermal westerly.
Wind conditions
Best with westerly (W-SW), between 15 and 30 knots. Easterly is also rideable, though it generates slightly more chop. Wind here is cleaner than at Valdevaqueros due to the distance from the dunes — good conditions for technical progression.
Best season
Summer and autumn bring the most consistent westerly days. In spring, easterly predominates. The spot is rideable year-round; in winter use a larger kite.
Recommended level
All levels. Clean wind and a wide beach make it suitable for beginners (with an instructor) and advanced riders alike. One of the few spots in Tarifa where lower-level kiters can feel comfortable.
Local regulations
Designated kite zone on the northern stretch of Los Lances. Active buoy marking during high season. Riding inside the swimming area or the zone reserved for schools is not permitted.
How to get there
From Tarifa, follow the road north past Río Jara campsite. Access is about 4 km from Tarifa, at km 80.4 on the N-340, with parking and beach bars beside the beach.
